January 2026Three situations, three outcomes
A couple from Germany wanted a home base on Koh Samui for six weeks β comfortable, near the beach, and suitable for working remotely with good internet access.
Two properties were shortlisted based on internet connectivity (verified) and proximity to co-working spaces. One beachside studio and one slightly inland option with better desk space were presented.
The couple chose the inland option for its workspace. They extended their stay twice, staying for eleven weeks in total. They've returned for a second extended visit since.
A retired professional from the UK wanted to relocate to Koh Samui for at least a year. She had specific requirements: a two-room property with a garden or outdoor area, walking distance to a local market, and a quiet neighbourhood.
Three properties in the southern Lamai area were identified over two weeks. Viewings were spread across separate days to allow for careful consideration. The advisor accompanied each viewing and shared written notes within 24 hours.
A twelve-month lease was signed on a hillside property with a private terrace. The client added the caretaker retainer for periods when she visits family in Europe. She has since renewed the lease for a second year.
A Swedish photographer renting a villa on Lamai travels frequently for work, sometimes for two months at a time. He'd experienced a pest infestation and plumbing issue go undetected for weeks during a previous absence.
The caretaker retainer was started from the following month. Bi-weekly visits were scheduled, with additional visits arranged before and after each of his extended absences.
In the first year of the retainer, one pest issue and one drainage concern were identified early and resolved before becoming significant. The client describes the service as "the part of being here that I don't have to think about."
